marcia yapp, community artist, teacher & co-facilitator

marcia is a professional photographer, mosaic artist, teacher and community art facilitator based in madison, wi. since 2005, marcia has facilitated and co-facilitated several mosaic public art pieces in the madison area; emphasizing the importance of community input, both in the design and creation of a piece.

marcia has worked on community projects through the backyard mosaic women's project, the wisconsin department of transportation, vsa wisconsin – the state organization on arts and disability, joining forces for families’ - gardening for empowerment program, public schools in the madison area, neighborhood centers and community gardens. she has also participated in youth and adult driven community photo projects with snapp (southside neighborhood art photography project), the promisekids program at st. mark’s lutheran church, vsa wisconsin's - phototown class, and a photovoice project by allied neighborhood residents designed by the wisconsin idea undergraduate fellowship (wif) grant program through the uw-madison morgridge center for public service.

as a teacher, marcia helps others employ mosaic and photography skills to expand their sense of the possible and their sense of themselves. as our mosaic artist she brings knowledge, experience, an excellent work ethic and the unique ability to care deeply for each woman she works with.
